TRU Profile 36 // Val Freeman. Miss Val has been training for over 6 years. She began training because her kids trained as well. Her favorite part about training is poomses and her favorite part about helping is “seeing the smiles on kids faces”. As an adult taking taekwondo at TRU, she has noticed how it has helped in life “off the mat”. For instance, “I’ve learned about dedication and being confident in what you are doing”.
TRU Profile 35 // Aiden Clever. Aiden is an 11 year old black stripe in the 6th grade at Oak Grove. His favorite subject in school is math and his favorite part of taekwondo is poomse. He loves all of the instructors, so much so that “I could never pick a favorite, they are all really the best!”. He started taekwondo as a way to meet new friends and have fun. “I’ve meet so many people, Ms. Zoe, Seeley, Lykzandro, and more..it’s the best!”
A few photos from the Kernersville Graduation!
TRU Profile 32.Mackenzie & Chesney. // Mackenzie & Chesney are siblings who train together. Mackenzie began training after being invited inside by Miss. Zoe while he was walking past the Hickory Tree location one day with his mom. As a first grader who loves art, he also loves poomses & Master Salvador. He also recently learned to ride his bike with no training wheels! // Chesney, in the all county choir & who enjoys singing, started soon after that “because I’d seen him take it and heard it helps build good self confidence”. She just received her first stripe on her white belt & loves flutter kicks and Master Terranova. At 6 & 12 years old, they are loving taekwondo.

Lots of fun at our parent date night tomorrow!
Thank you to the Northern Davidson County Chamber of Commerce for your support to all local businesses. TRU is honored to be recognized with the 2018 Small Business Award.
Last month, Youth Impact Magazine did a spread about TRU Taekwondo, and we were honored to see it in there. “Averett’s desire to see lives changed in a positive way as well as Grand Master Douglas’s years of experience as a taekwondo instructor, mentor, and coach has created a business that is creating more positive leaders since it’s first location opened in 2012.”
TRU Profile 29 // Macy Marks. Macy started taekwondo when she was in 7th grade with her two brothers, & mom & dad. She has enjoyed training with her family growing up and loves paddle kicking the most! While a third degree black belt now, she once remembers struggling with the “bear crawl”..."I did a bear crawl and ran right into the mirror”. Even some of our advanced black belts have had troubled with the bear crawl haha!
